Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is extra government money allocated to schools each year to support children's learning and development. It is designed to break down barriers and provide equal opportunities to all children by providing new learning activities, widening life experiences, providing tools or equipment to support learning at school and at home, or providing one to one or extra group sessions.

It is at the discretion of the school how this funding is used, but the school is expected to report on how it has spent this grant in the previous year, the impact of this spending, and how it intends to spend it in the current year. You will find a link to our latest report at the bottom of this page.

Who is eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant?

Pupils are eligible for the Pupil Premium grant if they currently receive free school meals or have received them at any time since being at school.

Families are encouraged to apply for free school meals if they think they may be eligible, even if their child brings a packed lunch from home.

Pupils are eligible if their parents or carers are in receipt of any of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

  • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
  • Universal Credit (provided you have a net income of £7400 or less)
  • The following children are also eligible for Pupil Premium Grant:
